About Ms. Frazer
At an early age, Ms. Frazer was exposed to Braille due to her adoptive mother's blindness. Her formative years and relationship with her adoptive mother set the foundation for her work in special education, fueling her passion for supporting students with dyslexia and other challenges.
Ms. Frazer earned her high school diploma from Alcester-Hudson in 1979 and subsequently furthered her education by completing coursework at the University of South Dakota. Her career in special education began with Sioux City Community Schools, where she worked between 2008 and 2012.
Following Ms. Frazer's time there, she spent two years at Educational Service Unit #3 as a special education paraprofessional for students with autism. She worked at Pappillion Trumble Park, which allowed her to hone her skills in supporting students with autism spectrum disorder.
Professional Achievements
Throughout Ms. Frazer's professional journey, her most noteworthy achievement has been the opportunity to advocate for Respite Care, a program offered by the Lutheran Services in Iowa organization that seeks to relieve stress for caregivers and empower children and adults living with disabilities. When the state planned to cut the program, she took the initiative to speak out against this decision alongside her daughters and other parents. Mr. Frazer has recently addressed both the State House and Senate to highlight the significance of this program.
In addition to her professional achievements, Ms. Frazer is active in various civic organizations, including Miss Amazing and Autism of Nebraska. Highlighting her passion for special education, which extends beyond the classroom, she is also involved with Special Olympics Nebraska.
Ms. Frazer's contributions to her field and dedication to worthy causes are reflected in the awards she has received, which include the Be Kind Award from Millard Public School and the Partnerships for Iowa award from the governor of Iowa.
A Commitment to Making a Difference
Looking to the future, Ms. Frazer plans to continue focusing on ways to empower parents and children with disabilities. She also aims to secure additional funding and develop programs for children with disabilities, particularly in districts that require further support. Through her efforts, she envisions creating opportunities such as social skills training and community job shadowing, as well as scholarships and other dedicated programs that can make a lasting impact on the lives of those in need.
