“Socktober” Brings Warmth to Communities Across the Country, with Over 1 Million Socks Donated in the Past Five Years
“Socktober” continues to be a celebrated and engaging campaign for Compass One Healthcare associates across the country. This year, Compass One Healthcare once again exceeded its donation goals by collecting and donating more than 300,000 pairs of socks to local charities across the United States.
Compass One Healthcare, which includes branded healthcare sectors Crothall Healthcare, Intelas, Morrison Healthcare, and TouchPoint Support Services, as well as senior living sector CCL Hospitality Group, hosts an annual donation drive encouraging teams at hospitals, health systems, and senior living communities nationwide to donate socks to local shelters and charities.
“This year’s Socktober campaign continues to show how much our people care about the communities they serve and have a true heart for giving back. Together, Compass One Healthcare has now donated more than one million pairs of socks to those in need. This milestone reflects the compassion and dedication of our teams, partners, and communities,” said Bobby Kutteh, CEO of Compass One Healthcare.
Socks are one of the most requested items in shelters, as many unsheltered people rarely have the opportunity to remove their shoes or wash their clothing, making clean socks a critical yet often overlooked necessity.
Compass One Healthcare extends a heartfelt thanks to every team, partner, and community member who contributed to making this year’s drive a success. Several health systems and communities went above and beyond, demonstrating remarkable support, including:
- UVA Health University Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA, collected an incredible 42,000 pairs of socks, doubling their contribution from last year. Donations were delivered to the Salvation Army and The Haven, a local shelter.
- Atrium Healthcare associates in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama collected more than 14,000 pairs of socks to be donated to various organizations and local shelters across the four states.
- At several Mayo Clinic hospitals, associates collected over 12,000 pairs of socks, doubling last year’s total through fun competition. The donations were distributed to shelters and social service organizations across four states.
- At The Crossings Senior Living Community, the team collected more than 1,100 pairs of socks, which were donated to Interfaith Caring Ministries in League City, TX.
- At Princeton Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, teams partnered with the Salvation Army to collect more than 5,200 pairs of socks, with all sock donations staying local to Birmingham.
