Soxton Disrupts the Traditional Billable Hour By Combining AI and Attorneys to Provide Accessible, Affordable Legal Solutions
Soxton, an AI-native law firm and legal solution automating and democratizing access to early-stage legal services, today emerged from stealth with $2.5 million in pre-seed funding. The round was led by Moxxie Ventures, with participation from Strobe, Coalition, Caterina Fake, and Flex. With hundreds of customers already leveraging the platform, Soxton’s full-stack AI-enabled tools streamline legal services and make expert support accessible and efficient for startups.
The legal system was never designed for startup founders, and the traditional billable hour makes legal support slow and prohibitively expensive for companies at this stage. Soxton is the solution: a platform that transforms legal from a black box into a transparent, intuitive, and founder-friendly service. Before even publicly launching, Soxton has already helped over 270 businesses navigate incorporation, equity, fundraising, and compliance with ease by automating repetitive legal tasks while providing human attorney oversight. On average, Soxton has saved its customers $45,000 in legal fees within their first month.
Soxton was founded by Logan Brown, a Harvard J.D., former lawyer at Cooley LLP and serial startup founder. With deep ties to the startup community and legal experience dating back to when she was just twelve years old interning at her local District Attorney's Office, her mission is to foster a generational shift in the legal industry. Drawing from her own experiences building startups from the ground up and witnessing firsthand the inefficiencies of big law firms, Logan created Soxton to empower other entrepreneurs to take legal processes into their own hands.
“Until now, no one had started a company to become smarter at legal contracts. We’re giving founders back their time and, in effect, their money, to focus on what matters – scaling world-changing companies,” said CEO and Founder Logan Brown. “Startups shouldn’t have to pay thousands of dollars and wait days for answers they need in minutes. Soxton blends the efficiency of AI with the judgment of lawyers, making legal a partner in company-building instead of a roadblock. On average, we’re saving founders over $3,000 per basic contract.”
Soxton offers a library of more than fifty startup-ready contracts, and a plain-English AI legal copilot custom-trained on startup data. Through Soxton, startups can streamline integral routine legal work from incorporation to advisor grants, through automated workflows. Soxton also offers over 400 clauses in a library, with intent-based clause suggestions and support for uploading templates. Soxton’s most popular tool allows founders and operators to request a custom contract with a lawyer review. Founders can edit contracts using natural language, flag risks instantly, and access tools that translate legal jargon into clear explanations. When nuance or negotiation is required, Soxton seamlessly briefs an attorney to support the legal project. The result is a solution that saves founders time and significant legal fees without sacrificing expertise.
“I've never heard founders say 'yes' so quickly to a service like Soxton. Soxton is solving a pain point that every founder knows too well – costly, opaque, and slow legal services,” said Katie Jacobs Stanton, Founder and General Partner of Moxxie Ventures. "The combination of AI and human legal judgment is immediately beneficial for companies at the earlier stage, but is also strategic for growth stage founders that don't yet need to have a law firm on retainer.”
With its latest funding round, Soxton plans to expand its AI platform, grow its contract library and proprietary contract dashboard, and bring its approach to thousands of founders across the U.S.
