Union Tank Car Company (UTLX), a leading manufacturer and lessor of rail tank cars, is proud to announce the donation of a rail tank car to support hands-on training for the Chicago Fire Department, Calumet City Fire Department, and nearby municipalities. The rail tank car, which measures 43 feet long, 15 feet high, and weighs 61,100 lbs., has been installed at the Calumet City Public Safety Training Center.

225 Rail and UTLX Announce Strategic Partnership
Union Tank Car Company (“UTLX”), a Marmon/Berkshire Hathaway company, and 225 Rail are pleased to announce a strategic partnership to serve railcar owners and shippers. Conveniently located on the South-side of the Houston Ship Channel, the collaboration between the two companies will consist of UTLX providing railcar cleaning and repair services at 225 Rail’s 1,000 railcar storage terminal in Pasadena, TX. The site is well positioned to meet the growing demands of railcar owners and shippers in the region. 225 Rail is served by the PTRA with access to the UP, BNSF and CPKC railroads, making this facility a low-freight and centrally located option for repair, requalification and cleaning services. Equipped to handle various railcar types, including tank cars and hopper cars, the repair facility aims to significantly reduce out of service time for car owners and shippers, ensuring improved fleet utilization through fast, reliable service.
