CommonWell migration to interoperability service leader ELLKAY demonstrates its continued investment in leading-edge infrastructure and technology services to support seamless data exchange
CommonWell Health Alliance, a nonprofit member-driven alliance and Qualified Health Information Network (QHIN), announced today it has completed migrating its members to new technical service provider ELLKAY, supporting member-led data exchange compliance with technical requirements and security standards. The migration reflects CommonWell’s continued leadership, network investment, and commitment to member readiness for Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement™ (TEFCA) participation. The migration also underscores CommonWell’s support of the CMS Interoperability Framework.
“This migration was central to our mission to improve patient care through the secure and seamless flow of health information, helping our membership achieve complete, flexible, and secure health data exchange,” said Paul L Wilder, Executive Director of CommonWell Health Alliance. “We continue to be proud to partner with ELLKAY, which has demonstrated industry leadership and the ability to provide our members with the support and services required to meet the highest interoperability standards.”
CommonWell supports data exchange for 261 million patients across more than 125,000 provider organizations. The CommonWell platform features purpose-built services that help organizations across 20 types of care settings to easily and effectively participate in the national network.
“Enabling seamless data exchange across the healthcare ecosystem has always been central to our mission,” said David Cohen, Chief Product and Technology Officer, Greenway Health. “With CommonWell powering our network, we’re ensuring patients and providers remain at the heart of care, enabling accurate, complete, and actionable insights to flow freely and improve care delivery in real time.”
Supported services include:
- CommonWell Individual Access Services (IAS), the technological driver behind patient access, is currently available to members and supports Identity Assurance Level 2 (IAL2).
- CommonWell Master Person Index, which makes accurate and complete clinical records easier to find for providers, patients, and other qualified stakeholders.
- Industry-leading connectivity and security across the platform. CommonWell currently supports Cross-Community Access (XCA) or FHIR queries to Carequality and TEFCA. It provides 100% coverage among TEFCA-enabled endpoints.
“This milestone reflects our shared vision with CommonWell — creating a truly connected healthcare ecosystem where data flows freely and securely to empower better care everywhere,” said Cody Coonradt, Chief Product Officer, ELLKAY. “We are proud to partner with CommonWell in advancing the next generation of national interoperability and data exchange powered by the ELLKAY Enterprise Data Management Platform.
