Available now, ModMed Scribe 2.0 is the first pillar in its strategy to deliver AI Assistants that improve clinical, billing, and front office productivity, as well as patient communication, for specialty medical practices
ModMed®, a leader in specialty-specific healthcare technology, today announced its product roadmap for delivering the AI-Powered Practice, bringing powerful AI tools to all areas of specialty medical practices, including clinical, billing, and front office operations, as well as patient engagement. Now available, the first product on this roadmap, ModMed Scribe 2.0, helps to translate natural conversations between providers and patients into clinical action.
Version 2.0 of ModMed Scribe, released roughly one year after Version 1.0, delivers a new level of clinical AI sophistication with proprietary, specialty-trained models that allow providers to speak to patients naturally, without awkward pauses, direct commands, or robotic language sometimes required by other models. This new tier of AI intelligence delivers effortless documentation, empowering providers to easily review the notes and complete downstream actions.
"We aimed to create an experience so natural in the exam room that it feels like magic," said Dan Cane, co-Founder and co-CEO of ModMed. "With ModMed Scribe 2.0, the technology fades into the background, allowing the human connection between doctor and patient to be the focus. The AI isn't a participant in the conversation; it's an intelligent observer that understands, structures, streamlines, and helps action the immense administrative burden that follows."
A key differentiator of ModMed Scribe 2.0 is the volume of specialty-specific clinical data on which the model was trained. ModMed Scribe 2.0 is trained on de-identified, real-world clinical data, including millions of structured parameters sampled from over 750 million encounters, 2 billion diagnoses, 4 billion care plans, 500 million prescriptions, and 400 million labs. Using specialty-specific synonym libraries developed by practicing physicians, ModMed Scribe 2.0 understands the unique terminology, workflows, and nuances of each specialty to suggest clinically relevant and meaningful notes.
Built natively within ModMed’s EHR, EMA®, ModMed Scribe 2.0 understands, interprets, and analyzes natural human dialogue, powering an authentic personal experience for the doctor and patient. The result is a more human experience that gives providers ultimate power, precision, and control over documentation and reporting, and patients more face time and attention.
“ModMed Scribe is a game-changer. It’s like having a human scribe in the room,” said Jessi Pelletier, RN, Senior Clinical Administrator at Aspire Dermatology in Rhode Island. “The diagnosis summaries are where ModMed Scribe really shines, picking out key details from natural provider-patient conversations and translating them into professional summaries that surpass expectations. The comprehensive AI-suggested notes generated by ModMed Scribe reduce documentation and editing time for our providers and medical assistants, giving them time back in their day.”
Meet the AI-Powered Practice
ModMed Scribe 2.0 is the first product delivered from ModMed’s strategy for bringing the AI-Powered Practice to life. In the AI-Powered Practice, intelligent AI tools help responsibly manage the entire practice, from initial patient scheduling through the clinical visit and follow-up, all the way to billing and collection. Designed to keep humans fully in control of decision-making, these AI Assistants will be able to handle much of the repetitive, lower-value tasks so that individuals working in the practice can focus on more complicated, higher-value work.
A key differentiator in ModMed’s approach to creating the AI-Powered Practice is that the AI tools are built natively into the ModMed software suites for EHR, practice management, revenue cycle management, and patient engagement.
ModMed Scribe 2.0 is available today. In 2026, ModMed aims to deliver the following AI-Powered Assistants:
- ModMed Billing Assistant. Expected to be available in 2026, the ModMed Billing Assistant is designed to guide users through the workflow of correcting claims, including suggesting reasons for denial and actions to resolve the claim. An AI-driven system that works in partnership with ModMed Revenue Cycle Management services, the ModMed Billing Assistant learns from historical claim interactions specific for the relevant payer, driving efficiency and accuracy. Humans can focus on exceptions and strategy instead of repetitive work. The result should be a faster, lower cost collection through automation that scales without added headcount.
- ModMed Front Office Assistant. Expected to be available in the second half of 2026, the ModMed Front Office Assistant seeks to reduce the front office manual work related to patient engagement by up to 60% through AI automation of repetitive tasks like patient messaging, scheduling, and intake coordination. The ModMed Front Office Assistant is being developed to analyze patient communications and practice data to propose intelligent actions. Staff will be able to review summaries and approve AI-driven workflows, converting repetitive manual clicks into efficient, multi-step operations and cutting administrative overhead.
- ModMed Clinical Assistant. Expected to be available in the second half of 2026, the ModMed Clinical Assistant will summarize a patient’s history for the provider before a visit starts. The ModMed Clinical Assistant will reference data from recent provider visits, demographic and biographic data, associated labs, and relevant test results, including pathology and radiology. The ModMed Clinical Assistant will integrate all of this information in an easy-to-read summary that the provider can review immediately before each patient visit.
- ModMed Patient Assistant. Expected to be available in the fourth quarter of 2026, the ModMed Patient Assistant will improve the way that patients communicate with their healthcare providers. Patients should get faster responses for appointment requests, prescription renewals, and urgent clinical requests. The ModMed Patient Assistant aims to deliver new levels of personalization and streamlined communication throughout the patient journey.
- ModMed Support Assistant. Available today and expected to be generally available in the first quarter of 2026, the ModMed Support Assistant is designed to help ModMed users get faster, real-time assistance with ModMed product-related questions and tasks, like searching for reports, user access and permissioning, and troubleshooting.
“Our data-native foundation has uniquely positioned us to lead the AI charge,” stated Dr. Michael Sherling, co-Founder and Chief Medical and Strategy Officer of ModMed. “We are building technology that is practical, useful and frees up providers and their staff to focus on patient care.”
ModMed Scribe 2.0 Delivers a New Standard by Translating Conversation to Clinical Action
ModMed Scribe 2.0 is designed for the real-world exam room and offers meaningful assistance to providers:
- AI that enables action – Working alongside the EMA EHR, converts natural conversations into cohesive, clinically relevant notes and billing codes, linking diagnoses and treatments, and helping to streamline next steps, including prescriptions, labs, and patient education.
- AI that “speaks your language”– Trained on real-world, de-identified clinical data from 750 million patient encounters and specialty-specific synonym libraries developed by practicing physicians. It understands each specialty’s unique terminology, workflows, and nuances.
- AI that leverages the clinical history embedded in EMA EHR – Because ModMed Scribe is natively built into EMA, it knows each provider’s preferences for procedures, prescription signatures, and counseling language, without additional configuration or set-up required.
