Homa today announced the first-ever home purchases in the United States completed by buyers self-representing with the assistance of an AI-powered full-service real estate platform. These landmark transactions in Florida signal a new era for the real estate industry, where AI empowers consumers to navigate the homebuying process with data-driven confidence, greater transparency, and significant cost savings. Homa became an end-to-end platform in August, and the first closings occurred within a few weeks.
In a housing market defined by high costs and complexity, Homa is the first platform designed to replace the traditional buyer's agent, directly addressing the largest fee in a real estate transaction. In Florida, the average buyer’s agent commission is 2.78%. By using Homa’s free platform, the first buyer who purchased their home using Homa saved over $24,000 in commission fees. Early data shows strong demand from both first-time home buyers and repeat buyers, already familiar - and seeking to avoid - the nuances of working with a buyer’s agent.
“These AI-powered transactions are proof that homebuyers can and should be in complete control of the biggest purchase of their lives,” said Arman Javaherian, CEO and Co-Founder of Homa. “We are fundamentally disrupting an antiquated industry by putting expert-level knowledge directly into the hands of the buyer, removing agent pressure and bias from the equation. This is a major step toward making homeownership more accessible and affordable for everyone.”
This milestone arrives as the real estate industry operates within the post-NAR settlement landscape. The new regulatory rules mean home buyers have to sign contracts with Buyer's Agents before they can tour a home (in-person or virtually) - something that many buyers are loath to do. Homa's platform directly addresses this new landscape by offering an AI-driven, cost-effective alternative that puts the buyer in control and eliminates the need for a traditional, commission-based buyer's agent.
Homa’s specialized AI is trained on state-specific laws, property records and the same coursework required for real estate licensing. The end-to-end platform provides a suite of tools to manage the entire process, including property search, negotiation tools, automated contract generation and the ability to schedule home tours.
While the core Homa platform remains free for all buyers, the company also offers Homa Pro, an optional flat-fee service that designates a Transaction Broker to the buyer which ensures the buyer gets the full buyer's agent commission rebated back to them. The listing agent must share that commission and those extra savings go directly to the buyer.
Homa is a venture-backed startup co-founded by CEO Arman Javaherian, a former Senior Director at Zillow, and CTO Federico Campeoto, a PhD-level computer scientist and AI pioneer, to provide a transparent, cost-effective alternative to traditional agent models.
The platform is launching amid clear consumer demand for change. Research shows that 50% of buyers would consider purchasing a home without an agent[2], and a Realtor.com survey found that 82% of homebuyers are already using AI tools in their search[3]. Homa is meeting this existing demand in Florida, where almost 40% of the users signing up for Homa have committed to not using an Agent.
Waitlists are available for interested users in other states.
