Cascadia Capital Welcomes Veteran Dealmakers Simeon Ketchum and Peter Purcell

Launches Deal-by-Deal Direct Private Equity Advisory Business Serving Institutional Independent Sponsors and Fund Sponsors

Cascadia Capital, an independent investment bank serving middle-market clients globally, has announced the expansion of its Capital Markets platform with the launch of a new Equity Capital Solutions practice focused on deal-by-deal capital formation and advisory. A fast-growing alternative to traditional blind-pool private equity fund investing, this new product capability reflects Cascadia’s continued commitment to providing innovative capital solutions and closer access to private markets opportunities for investors seeking increased transparency, alignment, and asset-level participation.

To lead this initiative, Cascadia has appointed two new Managing Directors, Simeon Ketchum and Peter Purcell, both experienced professionals with extensive backgrounds in private equity, M&A, and capital formation. Mr. Ketchum joins Cascadia from Houlihan Lokey, where he most recently led its EMEA region Directs & Co-Investments business, bringing more than two decades of experience advising middle-market businesses, financial sponsors, and institutional investors across global markets. He was previously a founding member of Triago’s Directs & Co-Investments practice. Mr. Purcell also joins from Houlihan Lokey, where he was a part of the leadership team of its Directs & Co-Investments business in the U.S. Previously, he started and led the West Coast operations of Triago’s Private Capital Advisory business, including Directs & Co-Investments. Prior, Mr. Purcell co-founded and led the Directs business at Eaton Partners | Stifel, well before the emergence of what has become an active advisory market for both funds and independent sponsors. Together, Mr. Ketchum and Mr. Purcell will scale Cascadia’s deal-by-deal equity and hybrid capital capabilities across the North America and EMEA regions.

Direct investments allow investors to participate in single-asset opportunities with or alongside private equity sponsors without committing to a blind-pool fund. The model has accelerated in recent years as institutional investors and sophisticated family offices seek greater visibility into underlying assets, faster paths to value creation, and the ability to build sponsor relationships through individual transactions—particularly in the lower and middle market, where deal flow remains robust.

Cascadia is uniquely positioned to support this shift given its independence, nimble operating structure, and deep sector expertise across broad industry verticals. With a fully scaled investment banking platform and longstanding relationships with private equity firms, strategic buyers, and management teams, Cascadia offers a differentiated ability to source, evaluate, and package single-asset opportunities that align sponsor and investor interests.

“We are excited to broaden our platform with an Equity Capital Solutions offering at a time when investor demand for transparency, alignment, and differentiated access has never been stronger,” said Michael Butler, Chairman and CEO of Cascadia Capital. “As private markets continue to evolve, this capability allows us to meet clients where they are—delivering highly curated opportunities backed by the sector expertise and independent perspective that defines Cascadia.”

“We are thrilled to add Pete and Sim—pioneers in the deal-by-deal market—to our team,” said Tom Mills, Head of Capital Markets. “Their expertise meaningfully strengthens our platform and expands the ways we create value for clients and investors. The product expansion builds on Cascadia’s commitment to providing innovative solutions in the private markets and reflects the growing demand for tailored guidance in capital formation and allocation.”

“Cascadia offers a strong platform to build this offering given its independence, entrepreneurial culture, and diverse sub-sector coverage,” said Mr. Ketchum. “The momentum behind single-asset investing is extraordinary and represents private equity returning to its roots in its purest form. In this market environment, it’s important to deliver unique opportunities to investors in bespoke investment structures, which is one of Cascadia’s power alleys.”

“Cascadia is the perfect fit for us, both in terms of its proactive, dynamic, and team-oriented culture, as well as its industry expertise and position within the private equity market,” added Mr. Purcell. “We’re having fun already and the energy at the firm is contagious. The single asset private equity model offers undeniable appeal and benefits all parties involved, which proves out in the returns.”
