Supply Chain Management Gets Smarter with Accuris’ Built-in Research Agent

New generative AI technology, developed with Databricks, accelerates component discovery and sourcing through natural, conversational search

Accuris, the leading provider of mission-critical engineering and supply-chain intelligence, today announced the launch of its Component Research Agent – an integrated tool that dramatically streamlines how engineering, sourcing, and product design teams identify and evaluate electronic components. The agent was developed in collaboration with Databricks and is integrated into the Accuris BOM Intelligence platform.

By transforming everyday language into highly precise, complex search queries, the new generative-AI-powered Component Research Agent removes hours of manual searching and comparison work. Teams can move from requirement to recommended components in minutes, reducing sourcing cycles, avoiding costly delays, and accelerating time-to-customer with greater confidence in part selection.

When users type in a question, the research agent interprets data contextually, ranks options, and highlights risks or obsolescence, providing output that helps users weigh options and make confident decisions quickly.

“Accuris is making it easier for teams to find the information they need without navigating complex systems or search filters,” said Sarita Benjamin, General Manager of Supply Chain Intelligence at Accuris. “By partnering with Databricks to build the Component Research Agent, we’ve been able to turn decades of parts data into a more accessible experience that supports smarter decision-making.”

The research agent is trained on a curated dataset of more than 40 million trusted parts frequently found in industry-standard component libraries, supplier databases, and catalogs. Its key capabilities include:

  • Direct part lookup using natural language queries
  • Attribute-based comparisons to support evaluation and selection
  • Alternate component identification to find suitable replacements, including fit, form, function equivalents
  • Query capabilities by technical attributes
  • Ability to guide users with predefined prompts and helper tools
  • Built-in feedback tools to improve results over time

“At Databricks, our mission is to empower every organization to tackle its most critical business challenges using the power of data and AI,” said Shiv Trisal, Global Industries GTM at Databricks. “Partnering with Accuris to build their AI assistant is a great example of this, by combining Accuris’ deep manufacturing domain expertise with AI Agents powered by Databricks, we’re able to dramatically raise the quality and accuracy of the AI we deliver. The result is smarter, more reliable insights for manufacturers to protect their supply chain and bring products to customers faster.”
