"Ringo the Ginkgo" Leads Readers on a Journey Through Time, Wonder, and Science

Visual artist and author Arshak Martirosyan announces the release of Ringo the Ginkgo, a vibrant and imaginative picture book that invites young readers and families to step into the Jurassic period guided by a most extraordinary narrator: a cheerful ginkgo leaf named Ringo.

A “living fossil” unchanged for millions of years, Ringo welcomes readers into a prehistoric world filled with friendly dinosaurs, lush landscapes, and the origins of one of Earth’s most enduring trees. With gentle humor and a lyrical voice, Ringo explains how the ginkgo has witnessed epochs of transformation while remaining a symbol of resilience and natural wisdom. The book then journeys into an accessible and artful introduction to photosynthesis, connecting young readers directly to the life-sustaining process with a simple invitation to breathe in and out. Each inhale and exhale becomes part of the story, reminding readers how essential plants are to human life.

What begins as a playful expedition through science and history evolves into something even more unexpected. When readers flip Ringo upside down in the closing pages, the familiar leaf becomes the Key of Curiosity. This visual transformation opens the door to questions about art, science, wonder, and imagination. It encourages children to look more closely at the world around them and embrace the infinite possibilities sparked by curiosity.

Ringo the Ginkgo has earned praise for its inventive structure, luminous illustrations, and seamless blend of education and storytelling. Literary Titan calls the book “a radiant blend of science, imagination, and art” and applauds Martirosyan’s ability to turn complex scientific ideas into moments of poetic clarity. The review celebrates the book’s immersive design, its participatory final twist, and its invitation to experience the world through a lens of discovery and gratitude. Ringo’s shimmering presence and timeless message leave readers with a deeper appreciation of nature and its quiet but powerful role in sustaining life.

Playful, informative, and visually captivating, Ringo the Ginkgo is ideal for classrooms, libraries, family reading, and anyone who believes that creativity and curiosity belong at the heart of learning. This picture book is a tribute to science, art, and the enduring beauty of the living world.

Ringo the Ginkgo is now available for purchase through Amazon, making it easy for readers everywhere to bring this imaginative journey home.

About the Author

Arshak Martirosyan is a visual artist, writer, and lifelong admirer of science and nature based in Queens, New York. A graduate of the School of Visual Arts, he brings a painter’s eye to every creative project he undertakes. The inspiration for Ringo the Ginkgo began with a striking visual moment: a bright yellow carpet of ginkgo leaves glowing against a grey city sidewalk. Their unusual, almost whimsical shape sparked his curiosity and led him into the rich history of the ginkgo tree, a species unchanged since the Jurassic era. That discovery became the seed of a story in which a charming leaf guides readers through time, science, and imagination.

Martirosyan is passionate about introducing young readers to concepts such as evolution, environmental awareness, photosynthesis, and the interconnected relationship between plants and animals. His background in visual art is evident in the book’s vibrant scenes, including his own personal favorites: a baboon holding a “moon” balloon and a lyrical passage that depicts the sun and a small boat illustrating the photosynthetic process.

Although Ringo the Ginkgo was a labor of love that took nearly three years to complete while balancing a full-time career as a logistics manager for an art gallery, Martirosyan considers the project a deeply meaningful one inspired by curiosity, creativity, and his son, Leo, to whom the book is dedicated.
