Binzhou, located in the heart of the Yellow River Delta, is a major agricultural city in Shandong Province. With extensive arable land, the city is known for its abundant grain harvests and lush forests. Its specialty products, including wheat and winter jujubes, enjoy nationwide recognition.
Binzhou Zhongyu Food Co., Ltd. breeds its own wheat varieties and operates a contract farming model linking the company, production bases and farmers, helping boost rural incomes. The company has built a complete industrial chain spanning wheat breeding, deep processing, and exports. Today, a single grain of wheat from the fields of the Yellow River Delta finds its way to dining tables in more than 50 countries.
October marks the harvest season for winter jujubes. Inside the Winter Jujube Specialty Industrial Park in Zhanhua District, ripe fruits hang heavy on the trees as workers busily pick and sort them. The park integrates standardized cultivation, cold-chain logistics, and fruit-picking experiences, with insulated and double-film greenhouses covering the entire planting area. Premium new varieties such as Zhandong No. 2 and Zhandong No. 3 can achieve an average output value of over 60,000 yuan per mu under high-standard greenhouse conditions, demonstrating strong competitiveness in the premium market. As a national geographical indication protected product, Zhanhua winter jujubes have become a signature industry driving local prosperity and income growth.
From exporting wheat to improving the quality and value of winter jujubes, Binzhou is pursuing diverse approaches to increasing agricultural output and value.
