Gathering Global Innovation Resources to Empower Industrial Innovation and Development - The 2nd “Flourish in Fuzhou” Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition Overseas Sub-Station (Singapore) Successfully Held

-- On November 13, 2025, the Overseas Station (Singapore) of the 2nd “Flourish in Fuzhou” Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (hereinafter referred to as the Competition) was successfully held at the OGBC Innovation Hub in Singapore. As a key initiative under the competition’s “going global” strategy to expand international innovation networks, this Singapore station focused on the integration of cutting-edge technology and industry, aiming to build a bridge connecting high-caliber international talent with Fuzhou’s industrial ecosystem, promote the cross-border flow of innovation factors, and support Fuzhou in establishing a more open and globally competitive modern industrial system.

The Competition was hosted by the Fuzhou Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, organized by Zhejiang Saichuang Weilai Venture Capital Investment Management Co., Ltd (hereinafter referred to as ‘SCWL’), and co-organized by multiple industrial investment firms, financial institutions, and science and technology innovation platforms.

The Competition attracted 37 high-level talent projects from Singapore and the broader Southeast Asia region in fields such as artificial intelligence, information technology, new materials, intelligent equipment, and marine fisheries (27 in the entrepreneurship category and 10 in the innovation category). All participating teams possessed overseas (including Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan) study or work experience, with members hailing from world-renowned universities such as the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Harvard University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. More than 56% of project leaders hold doctoral degrees. Ultimately, 14 high-quality projects advanced to the on-site roadshow, fully demonstrating the strong aggregation effect of regional innovation resources and the potential for cross-regional collaboration.

During the promotional session, Mr.Han Zhenzhong, Assistant to the President of SCWL and General Manager of its Fuzhou Branch, provided a comprehensive overview of the Competition and elaborated on the special support policies offered by the Fuzhou municipal government and the China Fuzhou Pioneering Park For Overseas students. Currently, Fuzhou is building a full-life-cycle policy support system covering talent attraction, cultivation, and service, with particular emphasis on priority industries including the digital economy, marine economy, and green economy. As a key platform for attracting overseas talent to start businesses in Fuzhou, the China Fuzhou Pioneering Park For Overseas students offers a comprehensive package of support measures, including start-up funding, rent subsidies, and policy counseling. Through its one-stop service window, the park assists projects with landing arrangements, industrial resource matching, and investment-financing connections, thereby providing full-process support to accelerate the rapid growth and sustainable development of innovative projects.

The roadshow segment adopted a “7+5” format: seven minutes of presentation followed by five minutes of Q&A with the judges. The five judges invited to this station were senior experts from China and Singapore, representing prestigious research institutes, leading investment institutions, and prominent entrepreneurial enterprises. The panel conducted thorough evaluations and in-depth exchanges with participating projects, focusing on critical dimensions such as technological barriers, business models, team capabilities, and feasibility of implementation in Fuzhou.

The event yielded remarkable outcomes and fostered substantive interaction, with several projects expressing clear intent to establish operations in Fuzhou. A number of standout projects—characterized by leading-edge technology, innovative models, and strong alignment with Fuzhou’s industrial planning—emerged during the roadshow:

·In the green, low-carbon, and new materials sector, one project already in mass production and recognized as a national-level demonstration application has independently developed carbon capture technology capable of significantly reducing operational costs. The team plans to invest in the construction of an R&D and production base in Fuzhou.

·In the marine economy sector, a Singapore-based team has deeply integrated artificial intelligence with functional microbial technology to create a high-density ecological fishery system. Having completed pilot-scale testing, the project possesses a clear pathway for cooperation and integration with Fuzhou’s local aquaculture industry.

·In the intelligent manufacturing and scientific research frontier domain, a doctoral team from top-tier universities has developed an AI-driven automated R&D platform that deeply integrates physical experimentation with artificial intelligence. The team aspires to settle in Fuzhou’s science and technology innovation park and collaborate with local universities and enterprises to establish demonstration production lines.

Moving forward, the competition will actively promote the “inviting in” mechanism, selecting outstanding talent and their projects to visit Fuzhou for in-depth engagement with local industries at the 3rd Overseas Chinese Talent Conference for Development.

As global technological competition intensifies, constructing an open, collaborative, and cross-border innovation ecosystem has become a critical pathway for urban industrial upgrading. The Singapore station not only achieved precise linkage between Fuzhou’s industrial needs and global innovation resources but also marked a significant step forward in expanding talent recruitment networks across Southeast Asia and beyond. It has laid a solid foundation for deeper cooperation between China and Singapore in the fields of technology, capital, talent, and other areas.
